Waverley duo selected for 2019 World Championships team

We are thrilled to announce that Waverley’s Kate McDonald and Talia Folino have been selected on the team of six to represent Australia at the 49th FIG World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Stuttgart, Germany next month!

The team is currently at the AIS in Canberra for a training camp, before they fly out to Switzerland on the 24th September for final preparations prior to arriving in Stuttgart. Waverley’s John Hart has been selected as a team coach and will also travel with the team.

The Australian team will be aiming to achieve a top 12 placing at the World Championships, which would see us quality a full team for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Congratulations to Kate and Talia, their coaches and support staff, and their families. It’s most definitely a team effort and we couldn’t be prouder!

The Australian Women’s Team will be first up on day 1 of action at the FIG World Artistic Championships. The Championships start on Tuesday 4th October with qualifying across all apparatus, with finals beginning on October 8th.

The full Australian team is: Kate McDonald (WGC), Talia Folino (WGC), Georgia-Rose Brown (GQHPC), Georgia Godwin (Delta), Emma Nedov (SGAC) and Breanna Scott (SGAC). *Note – one athlete to be named reserve prior to competition.
